Summary
This position is a Docketing Technician (Office Automation) in the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Nebraska. The role involves receiving visitors, managing mail, maintaining automated records, handling case status inquiries, and integrating software outputs. Duties may expand with training and experience.
Responsibilities- Receive visitors and refer them to appropriate staff.
- Determine need for visitor escort per office policy.
- Distribute mail to staff members.
- Develop and maintain automated records from initial referral to final disposition and case file closure.
- Respond to case status inquiries.
- Retrieve information using routine queries from hard‑copy reports.
- Exercise confidentiality, tact, discretion, and judgment when determining release of information.
- Integrate output from different software types into work processing or desktop publishing text.
- Develop local docketing training materials and activities.
- Advise other docketing personnel on unique or complex cases.
- U.S. citizen or national.
- Initial appointment conditioned upon satisfactory pre‑employment adjudication (fingerprint, credit and tax checks, drug testing). Continued employment subject to favorable background investigation.
- Registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- One‑year probationary period may be required.
- Must meet all qualification requirements upon closing date of announcement.
- To qualify at the GS‑05 level, meet at least one of the following: (a) specialized experience, (b) education, or (c) combination of education and experience.
- Specialized
Experience:
One full year of experience equivalent to the GS‑04 level performing data entry, reviewing reports, maintaining records and disposition files, and ensuring document accuracy. - Education: Four years of education above high school leading to a bachelor’s degree in any field. One full‑time year of study is 30 semester hours or equivalent.
- Combination: Education beyond first 60 semester hours (beyond second year) creditable toward specialized experience. One full academic year beyond second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
- Typing test: at least 40 words per minute on a 5‑minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) and Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) may provide eligible displaced employees with selection priority if the position is within their eligibility and they meet qualification requirements.
Payment of relocation expenses will not be authorized.
