Asthe Assistant to the Dean, you will:
- Provide high-level administrative and strategic support to the Dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.
- Function as a key advisor, project manager, and liaison to internal and external stakeholders.
- Play a critical role in managing the execution of strategic initiatives, overseeing operational activities in the Dean’s Office, coordinating college-wide events and communications, travel, and supervising student support staff.
- Exercise substantial independent judgment and discretion, managing multiple complex priorities while fostering a professional, inclusive, and service-oriented environment.
This role requires a deep understanding of the College’s mission, its academic and artistic programs, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the Dean in a dynamic, highly visible setting. In the UNL system, this position is categorized as an Administrative Assistant.

MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Communication, Business, or related field; plus two (2) years of administrative experience in a professional office setting. Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, digital collaboration tools, and calendar management software.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience in a higher education or arts-focused environment.
- Familiarity with university systems such as SAP, Firefly, NUFFO, and Concur.
- Experience supervising students or support staff.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and web content management systems.
$24.04/hr minimum
