Temporary Maintenance Specialist I:
Construction Specialist

Location:

Lincoln, NE. Salary: $21.836 per hour. This temporary full-time Maintenance Specialist is a member of the Operations and Construction crew.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in a wide variety of construction activities, including moving dirt to construct roadways and camping pads for new campgrounds.
  • Operate machinery such as skid steers, wheel loaders, mini excavators, forklifts, and other equipment and tools.
  • Replace or install new concrete sidewalks or trails.
  • Plan for and perform regular maintenance of equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Assist with winter operations such as snow and ice removal.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or another building trade.
  • Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations, or training may substitute education on a year‑for‑year basis as appropriate.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • General knowledge of building construction and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to safely maintain and operate equipment, powered tools, and hand tools, including skid loaders, backhoes, rubber‑tire loaders, trenchers, and other equipment.
  • Ability to use construction levels and set grades for drainage and ADA projects.
  • Perform manual labor in adverse weather conditions, tight spaces, climb ladders, conduct inspections, and identify safety hazards.
  • Communicate effectively, understand and follow directions.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and determine materials and equipment needed for projects.
