Operations Manager
Overview
UIC Nappairit, LLC is hiring a Superintendent to oversee the construction of civil and vertical structures. The role supervises UICN work crews and subcontractors both onsite and offsite, including camp operations. The Superintendent manages all phases of contract and warranty work, ensures safety and quality standards are met, and coordinates mobilization and demobilization of equipment via barge and air freight. This is a non‑exempt, Davis‑Bacon position requiring 60‑70 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Supervise, direct, and maintain safety for UICN work crews and subcontractors in all aspects of commercial construction.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications, correct shop drawings, and maintain the project schedule.
- Adhere to UICC Policies and Procedures, including Shareholder employment opportunities.
- Maintain a worker‑safe, accident‑free environment in strict compliance with OSHA rules and perform quality control functions.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and the general working environment.
- Review and update the project schedule and the three‑week look‑ahead plan.
- Coordinate logistical aspects of barging and air cargo, including unloading, staging, and storage of material, food, and equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for the past three years.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and correct shop drawings.
- OSHA 30‑hour certification and recognition as an OSHA Competent Person.
- Experience performing quality control functions in a construction environment.
- Ability to operate basic construction equipment such as forklifts and loaders.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual work history.
- 15 years of construction experience.
- 7–10 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience on remote school construction projects.
- Experience managing remote construction projects.
- Familiarity with cloud‑based construction management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related systems.
- Strenuous walking, standing, climbing; frequent heavy lifting.
- Work performed on uneven surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding.
- Require full‑body physical activity including climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and walking.
- Frequent use of hands and arms for handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
- Maintain physical endurance and coordination to safely perform construction‑related tasks.
- Loud noises and/or extremes of heat or cold.
- Protective gear may be uncomfortable.
- Moderate levels of stress may occur.
- Work environment is a construction site, often near moving equipment.
- Environmental conditions such as cold, heat, noise, hazards, and/or close quarters.
