BIM Manager

Job Summary:

The BIM Manager is a hybrid position, reporting to the Director of Design. This position requires daily BIM modeling and coordination tasks, development and maintenance of Revit standards, families, project templates, workflows and procedures within Paladin Technologies. The BIM Manager also assists with traditional 2D CAD work and supports corporate objectives by maintaining quality service to requestors.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed models and drawings in 2D and 3D drafting programs (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM
    360, Navisworks) for Structured Cabling Systems, Outside Plant Infrastructure, Audio Visual Systems, Security Systems, DAS, and other low voltage disciplines.
  • Assist the Director of Design in developing and maintaining BIM/AutoCAD standards, processes, libraries, families, and templates.
  • Lead and supervise modeling and documentation on projects.
  • Schedule and assign work to meet project deliverables.
  • Clean and purge background drawings/models for PTI Models.
  • Create models incorporating all appropriate trade models.
  • Coordinate with project coordinators and detailers; supervise and back‑check others’ work before passing to the project team.
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Design and VDC Manager regarding software, training, and hardware.
  • Provide 3D renderings of Conference Rooms, Data Centers, and IDF/MDF rooms for customer proposal packages.
  • Build the BIM Manager’s knowledge base of BIM and the technologies installed by Paladin Technologies.
  • Attend BIM coordination meetings and collaborate with architectural firms, developers, MEP consultants, and trade modelers.
  • Review and understand each project’s Design Intent, BIM Execution Plan, and/or Project Execution Plan.
  • Perform electronic takeoffs using Autodesk or Bluebeam Revu.
  • Communicate effectively, demonstrating approachability, teamwork, adaptability, creative thinking, problem solving, and calmness under pressure.
  • Maintain individual skillsets in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM
    360, ACC, Navisworks, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Perform other design, drafting, modeling, or office tasks as directed by the Design Director.
  • Ensure timely and complete submittal of each drawing set per the BIM Execution Plan and Design Schedule.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency, accuracy, and high quality.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience.
  • 5‑7 years drafting and design experience in IT, instrumentation, electronics, or security industries.
  • Ability to create aesthetically pleasing, legible, and accessible drawings.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, IP networks, low‑voltage electronics, power and communications, Windows desktop OS, Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of physical security and technology industries.
  • Knowledge of IP networks, low‑voltage electronics, power, and communications fundamentals.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, responsive to changing priorities, and proactive team player.
  • Self‑motivated and willing to create training plans for VDC reports.
  • Self‑starter with ambition to research new technologies and business methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Access Control, CCTV (IP/Analog), Intrusion Systems, client‑server security applications, MS SQL databases, servers and storage arrays, or Microsoft Visio.
  • Field experience in a construction environment.
  • Post‑secondary education in electronics, information technology, or related field.
