Description Of WorkAssistant Director, Association of Students of the University of Nebraska (ASUN) provides leadership, advisement, and operational oversight to the comprehensive student government at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This position acts as a liaison between students, staff, and administration to foster engagement, leadership and successful campus-wide initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesAs the Assistant Director, ASUN you will:
- Serve as an advisor and provide leadership development opportunities to ASUN Committees, Appointment boards, Electoral commission Freshman Campus Leadership Associates and other formal committees.
- Oversee student led programming and event planning for campus-wide events, including Homecoming, Earth stock, student leadership retreat, and other events throughout the year.
- Lead and supervise the ASUN office staff.
- Participate in ASUN operational strategic planning and assist in the development and management of the departmental budget.
- Develop and submit quarterly and annual reports for the department.
- Serve as a member of the ASUN Executive Team Advisory council.
- Attend various ASUN senate, committee, and departmental meetings.
This position may have irregular hours based on department events, needs of the student government, and meeting requirements.

MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years of experience working within education, higher education, or similar type field.
- Experience working with student government, student clubs, student organizations, or other student leadership groups.
- Previous experience supervising staff members.
- Experience with public speaking and delivering presentations
- Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in leadership development
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability in time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle difficult situations and individuals using tact, diplomacy, and engagement
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
- Master’s degree
- Previous membership/leadership experience in college student government.
- Experience with developing and managing budgets.
- Experience planning and implementing student training.
- Experience leading student events.
$52,646/yr. minimum
