Purpose StatementThe job of Teacher Elementary was established to provide support to the instructional process by serving as an elementary teacher responsible for supervising students in the classroom and other assigned areas; developing and delivering lesson plans within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to address instructional and classroom issues; and responding to inquiries from parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress.
This position reports directly to the Principal.
Essential Functions- Administer instructional programs to improve student academic success.
- Administer subject-specific assessments, district and state tests (e.g., MAP, OLSAT, SAT) to assess student competency and develop learning plans.
- Advise parents or guardians on student progress, communicate expectations, celebrate achievements, and recommend improvement strategies.
- Analyze assessment data to enhance student achievement.
- Assess student progress toward objectives and grade-level expectations, provide feedback to students, parents, administration, and district specialists.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources (e.g., PTA, business partners) to improve student outcomes and support the school improvement plan.
- Counsel students and identify resources to improve performance.
- Demonstrate effective classroom and subject-specific techniques to meet individual student needs.
- Support district initiatives and building initiatives to maximize collaborative goal achievement.
- Differentiated classroom instruction to address individualized learning within lesson plans.
- Direct paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student workers to support the classroom and individual learning needs.
- Facilitate student learning through field trips, technology integration, tutoring, and other activities to promote academic and interpersonal success.
- Maintain confidential and nonconfidential records in compliance with administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe, optimal learning environment and adhere to district policies.
- Model appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
- Monitor students in various educational settings to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.
- Organize indoor and outdoor age-appropriate activities to guarantee student participation.
- Participate in meetings (e.g., PLC, SAP, staff, PTA) to share and gather information needed for job functions.
- Prepare written materials (grade reports, attendance, anecdotal records, lesson plans, progress reports, tardy letters, incident reports) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Respond to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns or refer to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries from teachers, students, parents, administrators, or others to resolve issues and provide information.
Perform additional related duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the work unit.

Ability to perform complex technical tasks, routinely upgrade skills, apply assessment instruments, operate standard office equipment and software applications, and prepare accurate records.
Knowledge:
Basic mathematics, organized technical information, document composition, facilitation of group discussions, and analysis of situations; familiarity with codes, policies, regulations, age-appropriate activities, lesson-plan requirements, child development stages, and behavioral management strategies.

Working EnvironmentPhysical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. General activity: 10% sitting, 40% walking, 50% standing; may involve temperature extremes.
