The Youth Development (YD) School Community Coordinator (SCC) provides support at Community Learning Centers (CLCs) which are partnerships that provide opportunities and support services leading to improved student learning and development, stronger families, and healthier neighborhoods. The SCC is housed in the local public school. Working hours vary, with some evenings and weekends required. The SCC functions as a liaison between their lead agency, the school, and community partners.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as an advocate for youth, families, and neighborhood residents.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Lincoln Public School (LPS) personnel, and neighborhood residents that support the goals of CLCs.
  • Assist in the development of the CLC annual plan and integration into the School Improvement Plan.
  • Work cooperatively with school administration, CBOs, and neighborhood representatives in the development and oversight of the annual site budget.
  • Responsible for the oversight of direct service programs related to before and after school and family involvement.
  • Assists in training and directing others.
  • Act as a representative of CLC initiatives at school and community functions.
  • Develop integrated advocacy, planning, and promotional activities.
  • Work to develop the School Neighborhood Advisory Committee.
  • Plan, schedule, and direct daily routines, activities, and operations of CLC.
  • Identify programs and services that meet the mission and goals of the CLC in concert with Family Service Lincoln.
  • Maintain community service resource information to promote available opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain public relations strategies that increase the awareness and utilization of the CLC activities.
  • Recruit, orient, supervise, and evaluate the performance of agency staff, volunteers, and consultants (club leaders).

Requirements
  • Knowledge of employment interviewing and informal counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of childhood education theory and application.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws that govern childcare and child development.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
  • Ability to manage and maintain statistical reports.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with stressful and emergency situations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain adequate records.
  • Ability to develop and implement area objectives and performance goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to schedule, direct, counsel, and evaluate employee work and performance.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field. Master’s degree and previous management or supervisory experience preferred.

Other Credentials / Certifications

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required at the time of employment or to be completed within 60 days of the start of employment.
