Job Description

The Early Childhood Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Early Childhood, is a member of the early childhood leadership team. The Early Childhood Coordinator provides leadership and support for programs in the Department of Early Childhood.

  • Must qualify for, or hold, a valid Nebraska Administrative certificate with an early childhood teaching endorsement and a special education/early childhood special education teaching endorsement.
  • Demonstrated successful administrative/leadership experience required along with a commitment to working in a culturally diverse learning environment and supporting the needs of young children, their families, and the staff in the department as well as building administrators.
  • Position to begin July 1, 2026
    .

Previous leadership experience preferred. This position includes 34 additional days throughout the summer and during school breaks. The successful candidate provides direct supervision of the Student Parent Program, serving infants and toddlers and provides support and leadership for early intervention/early childhood special education services for other programs in the department.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Plan and facilitate professional learning.
  • Provide leadership to technicians, certificated and classified early childhood staff.
  • Share in the responsibility for appraising selected department staff.

The successful candidate demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills in addition to the initiative and drive to successfully apply leadership and organizational skills to supervise programs in the department. Must have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, NDE Rules 11, 51 and 52, IDEA, and DHHS childcare licensing regulations and Sixpence requirements. Position requires reliable and dependable transportation with district approved driving record.

This position is subject to a veterans preference.

Certificated Professional Agreement
