The Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences (NHS) in the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in exercise physiology and exercise testing. This position carries an appointment of 50% research, 45% teaching, and 5% service.
The successful candidate is expected to have, and continue to develop, a nationally recognized human research program in exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, or performance assessment.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting and publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Developing collaborative research with faculty at UNL and/or other institutions.
- Presenting research findings at national or international scientific meetings and/or through invited presentations.
- Integrating research and teaching in exercise physiology and exercise testing.
- Mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students and serving on graduate committees.
- Teaching responsibilities will include developing and delivering undergraduate and/or graduate courses aligned with the candidate's expertise.
The successful candidate will have access to shared research and instructional facilities equipped for assessing aerobic, anaerobic, and resistance-training responses in humans.

Department and University Environment
The Department offers a dynamic and collaborative academic environment, serving approximately 1,000 undergraduate students and 60 graduate students. Faculty research is supported by NIH, USDA/NIFA, foundations, and industry partners, in close collaboration with the Office of Research and Innovation. Minimum Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in exercise physiology, exercise science, or a closely related field with potential (Assistant Professor) or established (Associate Professor) record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Evidence of potential (Assistant Professor) or documented (Associate Professor) effectiveness in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in exercise physiology or related areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in aerobic exercise responses to complement existing departmental strengths in resistance training.
- Evidence of the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams.
- Teaching experience in exercise testing and exercise physiology.
- Evidence of pursuing external funding (government or industry) to support research and student involvement.
- Demonstrated excellence in mentoring Master's and Doctoral students.
