Position Summary Information
General Description of Position
- Under the direction of the Associate Dean and Program Chairs of the English Department, the Adjunct Instructor, English position involves participating in and contributing to a dynamic department whose faculty is responsible for instructing students in a variety of English-integrated reading and writing courses in a campus classroom, online/remote, hybrid, and/or off-campus setting. This is a part-time temporary position.
Essential Functions
- Provide Instruction in Assigned Subject Areas:
Teaching assignments for this position may include but are not limited to, both General Education and Academic Transfer courses, Beginning Reading and Writing, Intermediate Reading and Writing, Business Communications, Co-Requisite Writing Workshop, Composition I, Composition II, and occasional literature classes. Provide For Student Evaluation and Recordkeeping:
Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate student records on attendance, achievement, and progress. Promote/Support Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Access:

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree. 18 graduate hours in English.
Desired Qualifications
- Work experience teaching reading and writing at the two-year college level. Work experience working with diverse populations of students at various levels of language ability/skill/learning style in both academic and career/technical degree programs. Education or training in adult education theory and methodologies. Experience teaching integrated reading & writing.
