Position Summary

Location:

Rousseau Elementary School. This position is for the  school year, with an anticipated start date of August 2026. It covers 178 days of early childhood para calendar, supporting the afternoon program from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
  • Assist 3- and 4-year-old children in a learning and social environment.
  • Assist in classroom activities, breakfast and lunch set up/cleanup, and facilitate learning, play and self‑help activities.
  • Conduct small group activities, supervise the room, and support the classroom teacher as requested.
  • Communicate with staff, children, and families, maintaining a sense of humor, patience and consistency.
  • Commit to families from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications
  • At least 12 semester credit hours in early childhood/child development or equivalent prior training or experience.
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development preferred.
  • Must be 19 years of age and meet Nebraska state licensing requirements.
  • CPR certified and hold a First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain and maintain).
  • Candidate may be considered if lacking credit hours; at hire, a condition is to complete 6 hours of training during the first year and another 6 hours by the end of the second year.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Salary & Benefits

Salary: $20.50 to $20.50 per hour  rate;  rate pending board approval).

This position is subject to veterans preference.
