Description of Work
The Peter Kiewit Foundation Engineering Academy provides income eligible students with the resources and support to pursue careers in engineering, computing, and construction, shaping the future workforce of Nebraska. The Engineering Academy seeks to recruit and retain all students in the program. We envision a future where all students achieve long‑term economic success through rewarding careers in engineering, computing, and construction.
The Program Coordinator advances the Engineering Academy’s mission by integrating career readiness, leadership development, and experiential learning into all aspects of the scholar experience—ensuring students are academically successful, professionally prepared, and actively engaged in their communities. The role also ensures compliance with grant deliverables and enhances collaboration with college and university partners, including the Engineering Student Services team.
Responsibilities- Meet individually with students to provide success coaching related to academic and college success on a consistent basis and help implement early intervention plans when needed.
- Facilitate and coordinate academic and career development activities, events, classroom presentations, and data collection for the Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy.
- Support general scholar programs and events, such as serving on the scholar selection committee or leading sessions during the Campus Readiness Retreat.
The mission of the University of Nebraska’s College of Engineering is to train the next generation engineering workforce and solve problems of global importance. This position is located on UNL’s city campus in Lincoln, NE.

MinimumRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, education, counseling, psychology, student affairs, or related field plus two (2) years of related experience working with students in a 1:1 setting.
Demonstrated experience presenting to diverse groups. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to function in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet university driver eligibility criteria.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in engineering, business, education, counseling, psychology, student affairs, or related field. Experience teaching at the university level. Counseling skills and knowledge of theory/application.
