PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To provide a structured learning environment for conflict resolution and positive interaction as part of the Rockford School District student discipline program.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning.Establishes, shares and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.Maintains clear guidelines and protocols for students in the In School Suspension room.Maintains extra supplies/textbooks in the ISS room.Works with classroom teachers to receive classroom assignments for students assigned to In-School Suspension.Returns completed assignments to classroom teachers.Consults with students individually to promote successful behavior and achievement progress.Communicates student performance with corresponding teachers and administration.Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree in a mental health related field such as, but not limited to counseling, psychology, sociology, education, or human services preferred. Experience working with school-aged children preferred.

Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel.
