Job DescriptionLocation: Pyrtle Elementary School
Paraeducators assigned to the Early Childhood (preschool) program will work with 3‑5‑year‑old children in a learning and social environment. Duties include assisting in the classroom, including snack and lunch set up/clean up, facilitating learning, play and self‑help activities, and assisting teachers in implementation of Individual Education Programs for children below age five who have verified disabilities. Paraeducators are assigned non‑teaching duties which include a wide variety of activities.
This position supports the morning program. Work shift is 7:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Candidate must meet the requirements of State Rule 11, which states at least 12 semester credit hours in early childhood/child development or the equivalent in prior training or experience. Associate Degree in Early Child Development preferred. A candidate who does not meet these requirements may be considered. At time of hire, a condition of employment is to complete 6 hours of training or experience during the first year of employment;
the other 6 hours must be met by the end of the second year. Must be 19 years of age and meet State of NE licensing requirements, including CPR certification and a First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain and maintain).
Salary for 2026‑2027 is $21.30 per hour. This position is subject to veterans preference.
