Step into a rewarding school-based assignment supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for elementary-aged learners. This onsite contract opportunity offers flexible afternoon or full-day schedules, allowing you to contribute meaningfully while maintaining work-life balance.
Key Qualifications- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with experience interpreting in educational settings
- Eligibility for or possession of an SLI license; provisional license accepted for EIPA scores below 4.0
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Dedication to supporting students’ access to curriculum and school community
- Professionalism in upholding student confidentiality and fostering inclusivity
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for elementary students, ensuring clear communication between students, staff, and peers
- Adapt interpreting techniques to fit various learning activities throughout the school day
- Support both classroom instruction and non-academic settings (such as assemblies, lunch, or group activities)
- Work closely with teachers, special education teams, and school staff to address individual student needs
- Maintain appropriate documentation and participate in meetings regarding student progress or program planning
- Full school-year contract providing professional stability
- Choice of full-day (7:45am–3:15pm) or part-day (11:00am–3:15pm) schedules
- Elementary-only caseload, allowing you to build meaningful connections with young learners
- Work onsite in a welcoming school environment
