Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary students by supporting their communication and learning as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position is based onsite and offers a choice of full-day hours (7:45am-3:15pm) or a flexible afternoon schedule (11:00am-3:15pm). You’ll work directly with students at Beattie Elementary, facilitating seamless classroom inclusion and empowering young learners to access the curriculum and social interactions.

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience working with children, ideally in educational settings
• Possession of or eligibility for a Nebraska interpreter license (provisional licenses accepted with EIPA below 4.0)
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Reliability and adaptability, with a commitment to student growth

• Provide direct sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to optimize support for each child
• Foster a supportive, inclusive environment that nurtures communication and engagement
• Maintain accurate documentation as required
• Uphold privacy and confidentiality standards in all student-related matters
