UPWARD Lab Assistant, Volunteer - ) - PTT

This volunteer position is part of the UPWARD department at the SCC Lincoln campus. The role is unpaid and temporary, requiring participation in a supervised computer lab setting to support students in building digital literacy.

• Provide academic and technical assistance in a group environment across various academic areas and levels.
• Provide student supervision while using UPWARD computer equipment.
• Maintain and turn in accurate documentation for student attendance, computer usage, and program needs.
• Assist with special events, including working with community-based organizations on campus.
• Develop an in-depth knowledge of the College and attend and participate in training opportunities.
• Provide effective, positive communication to students.
• Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
• Work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required by the College.

Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge and ability to provide academic assistance across various academic areas and levels, and to refer students with academic or social needs.
• Ability to work independently with students and under the direction of project staff.
• Proficiency in basic study skills and expertise in a specified course or area of study.
• Basic computer skills.
• Eligible to become a Nebraska Department of Correctional Services volunteer to gain access to SCC correctional facilities.
• Ability to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Previous experience with the UPWARD program or lived experience in a carceral environment.

None. Volunteer unpaid position.

Part‑time, temporary; assignments based on program needs. Work schedules may vary.

Requires a Criminal History Background Check prior to final offer.
