Adjunct Instructor, Adult Education – Adult Basic Education/Secondary Equivalent (ABE/ASE) – (2026‑2027) – PTT

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Adult Education, Adjunct Instructors support students’ reading and math skills development through the 12th‑grade level and assist students in completing GED® credentials and preparing for career and post‑secondary competency through individualized classroom instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide online program expectations to all students upon entry into the class for Zoom sessions.
  • Develop individualized support and educational plans based on students’ assessment results and goals.
  • Support students with appropriate advice regarding studies and learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in retention efforts, completing attendance and following up with students who miss sessions.
  • Arrange or proctor post‑testing for students, including CASAS testing and review of results.
  • Support students’ preparation for GED® assessments, including scheduling assessments and requesting vouchers.
  • Instruct and support specific math and reading needs, providing assistance at the K‑12 level as required.
  • Maintain and report a minimum of 8 hours of professional development annually, completing state- and program-required PD and attending mandatory program meetings.
  • Promote a culture of belonging, fostering an environment where all students, faculty, and employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.

Additional duties may include performing associated tasks in other divisions or programs as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of instructing adults, secondary students, adult education, and/or working with adult education.
  • Proficiency with computers and online learning programs, email, shared digital information, computer‑aided instruction, and audio‑visual communication software.
  • Ability to instruct and clarify math and language arts from K‑12 levels.
  • Must reside in Nebraska.
  • Strong written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances and move tables, chairs, and media equipment when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • Instructional experience.

Desired

Qualifications:

  • Training and experience teaching secondary and/or developmental math and language arts.

Salary: TBA. Benefits:
Part‑time temporary employees eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan (Roth, SRA, or 457(B) options; no match provided by the College).

Work Schedule:

Part‑time, temporary position with assignments based on program needs. Work hours, shifts, days, and locations may vary and are subject to modification.
