Description of Work
- The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln prepares the next generation of leaders to address local, national, and global challenges in food, agriculture, natural resources, and communities. As a Recruitment Specialist, you will:

  • Recruit undergraduate students to the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR).
  • Provide college and career information to prospective students and their families on all CASNR majors during campus visits and admissions events.
  • Represent CASNR and Nebraska 4-H at on- and off-campus events.
  • Assist with implementation of a communication and marketing strategy to Nebraska 4-H participants and collect data to measure plan effectiveness.
  • Attend Extension-sponsored youth events/field days/other activities like Connecting the Dots and the Nebraska State Fair, Next Chapter, and participate in monthly "Beyond the Clover" 4-H Youth Development Zoom calls led by the Associate Dean/State 4-H Program Leader.
  • Collaborate with Extension staff on recruitment efforts.
  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with Nebraska Extension and 4-H professionals, alumni and other organizations to recruit qualified students.
  • Initiate and maintain personal contact with qualified prospective students and related public throughout the recruitment and enrollment process.
  • Frequent travel and evening/weekend work required.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, natural resources, science, education, marketing, or public relations/communications related field plus two years of public relations, recruitment, student services, sales, marketing, agriculture, natural resources, science, or related field experience required. Experience must demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to engage large audiences. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
- The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
Knowledge of UNL and CASNR preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills desirable. Ability to multi-task and work independently preferred.
