TITLE:

Part-Time Coordinator of Adult Skills (ASD) Programs

REPORTS TO:

Senior Associate Director of Adult Skills, Julie Grives

JOB CLASSIFICATION:
Regular, part-time. Hours set by senior staff. Potential to increase hours to full-time.

PURPOSE:

Coordination and leadership of programs in the Adult Skills Development of English language learners, including online and in-person group programs, as well as contracted workplace English classes. This job involves a mix of online and in-person duties.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in working with social service agencies or nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience working with adult learners, including multilingual or non-English-speaking populations, strongly preferred.
  • Fluent in English, including oral and written English; excellent computer skills; teaching ability; good organizational, record-keeping, teamwork, and intercultural skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across diverse audiences.
  • Ability to analyze information, maintain confidentiality, and ensure accuracy in program and student data.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, tutors, volunteers, staff, workplace partners, vendors, and community organizations.
  • Intercultural competence and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse linguistic, educational, and cultural backgrounds.
ESSENTIAL

JOB DUTIES:
  • Assist other ASD coordinators in recruiting, assessing, and placing students in Adult Skills classes and programs, especially Healthcare Career Pathways and CNA Prep.
  • Design curriculum for and teach Healthcare Career Pathways.
  • Design curriculum and teach foundational, contextual English and/or computer skills, and assess students at Workplace English partner sites as needed.
  • Provide instructions to students one-on-one with the driving simulator.
  • Coordinate with assigned staff, tutors, and partners regarding curriculum, lesson plans, student goals, transportation, child-minding, and schedules.
  • Oversee distribution of curriculum materials and books as needed.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and information for students and tutors within your assigned program(s).
  • Where appropriate, provide direct instruction to students as an individual tutor or tutor-team member, especially in the computer skills area.
  • Monitor achievement and maintain records of student and tutor activities within your assigned program(s).
  • Prepare reports as needed for funding agencies detailing activities of the group, presentations, subjects of lessons, field trips, referrals to other agencies, etc.
  • Collect student profiles, goals, and literacy acquisition information and coordinate with tutors and other LLC staff regarding compiling data into reports.
NON-ESSENTIAL

JOB DUTIES:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with the distribution of curriculum materials and books where needed.
  • Work as a team member to further LL mission through planning, events, public education, and other means.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a professional office, classroom, and community-based environment. Duties regularly require sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and using standard office equipment, including a computer and telephone. The employee may occasionally lift and carry books, files, instructional materials, or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. Local travel to workplace partner sites, meetings, and other program locations may be required.
