Description Of Work

The Education Specialist works in the High Schools within the Lincoln Metro area to support students within the TRIO Upward Bound program.

Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement an educational plan that addresses each participant’s individualized academic, educational, and leadership needs and interests
  • Provide academic advising and instructional support that enables participants to be retained with the program
  • Develop and implement college preparatory activities and programs
  • Actively assist in the development and implementation of the Upward Bound summer program at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln
  • Assist program participants with Post Secondary Pathway planning

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, community services, human development, or related field.
  • Experience providing educational learning activities—improve academic performance, organizes educational planning, and preparation for enrollment in post-secondary education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to drive a 12-passenger van
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirement as well as a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Fluent in a second language other than English.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with high school aged youth
  • Experience in working with school staff, and parents/ guardians.
  • Experience in assessing student needs.
  • Experience working with TRIO programs.
Posted Salary

$45,000/yr. minimum
