Overview

The Quality Engineer will work to ensure products meet customer quality requirements. This role will develop relationships with customers to understand their expectations and challenges, and function as the voice of the customer to convey this message to Lincoln Industries. The Quality Engineer will monitor Lincoln Industries’ performance against customer NCM PPM objectives, and report those findings, coordinating efforts to address deficiencies.

The ultimate goal is for the customer to have a positive experience. This role will be an advocate for the customer and serve as the organizational conscience in team-based problem solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Influence peers and leaders to achieve acceptable customer quality levels. This includes pre- and post-product launch interaction with Sales and Integration to daily interaction with Customer Service and Operations addressing customer quality issues. Participate in reviews for manufacturability and design.
  • Develop working relationships with external customer counterparts.
  • Coordinate with Account Management, Customer Service, Supplier Quality, Operations, and Integration to resolve customer complaints and concerns. Verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report performance against customer quality metrics.
  • Take preventive action as necessary to prevent issues using engineering principles and statistical techniques.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer to Lincoln Industries, including both expectations and actual performance against those expectations.
  • Serve as a resource for Integration Engineering and Strategic Accounts for new product launches.
  • Participate in the development and submission of PPAP documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements.
  • Drive improvements and changes to MSA, PFMEA, Control Plans, calibration, inspection, testing, etc.
  • Provide engineering support to Process Control, Operations, and Integration Engineering in the areas of quality engineering.
  • Provide engineering support to Operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques, including analyzing problem areas/processes and identifying and implementing improvements.
  • May travel up to 10% to improve customer’s experience.
  • Executing the duties of the position with a focus that is largely proactive rather than reactive.
  • May be responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949.
  • Could potentially come in contact with hazardous chemicals.
  • Proper disposal of waste such as recyclables, standard waste, hazardous waste, etc., is expected.
  • Any other tasks as required fulfilling Lincoln Industries’ Beliefs and Drivers.
  • May serve as a supervisor.
Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Exception:
    Non-Engineering Bachelor’s degree AND 5+ years in Manufacturing AND 1+ years in Quality AND Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ) / Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
  • 0-5 years of experience in Quality and/or manufacturing process related field.
  • A technical aptitude to analyze defects and problem solve driving to root cause.
  • Able to read engineering prints.
  • Preferred - Green Belt certification and ability to use Minitab.

Experience

  • Good aptitude in the field of customer service management.
  • Apply basic knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to solve problems with supervision.
  • Can communicate engineering specifications.
  • Execute designed experiments.
  • Execute tasks in projects.
  • Ability to assess risk in manufacturing processes.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to research problems.
  • Influences peers and treats others with respect; drives teamwork and unity.
  • Seeks feedback actively and invests in personal growth.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
  • Must communicate clearly with suppliers in written and verbal means.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, suppliers, or internal stakeholders.
