About the Role
The Making/Manufacturing Equipment Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and optimizing manufacturing equipment and systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations. This role works on projects from concept through to implementation and handover, collaborating with various functions to deliver innovative solutions that meet both company and industry standards.
Responsibilities- Design and develop manufacturing equipment and systems, including 3D models, detailed drawings, and material selection based on product and production requirements.
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to enhance reliability, quality, and safety through mechanical innovations.
- Manage project tasks for manufacturing equipment from concept to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with other departments.
- Ensure all mechanical installations and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety and engineering standards.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and start‑up of mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment, ensuring they are operational and meet safety standards.
- Source and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing innovations to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Perform and oversee regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and provide technical support to maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment, preferably in manufacturing machinery or related equipment.
- Strong leadership skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of engineering principles and safety regulations.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of packaging industry standards and regulations.
- Experience with automation and robotics in packaging systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Solid Works.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to engage effectively in multicultural environments.
- Curiosity and appetite for technology and supply chain innovation, automation sustainability, and digital transformation.
- Global, entrepreneurial mindset with business insight and resilience.
- Fluency in English communication.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project and PowerPoint.
- Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and execution.
