Role Overview

This position will perform duties in the Resource & Transmission Planning department of the Power Supply division. The department’s primary responsibilities consist of planning for the utility’s future generating resource needs and the transmission system modifications required to serve both those resources and the LES service area.

Typical tasks include:

  • Analysis of the LES and regional transmission system.
  • Ongoing coordination and participation in regional transmission planning efforts.
  • Recommendations for future transmission system additions and/or modifications.
  • Continuous evaluation of new generation and load management technologies.
  • Acquiring and administering renewable energy power sources.
  • Tracking the performance of LES’ individual generating resources and making recommendations for optimizing the overall generation portfolio.
Education & Experience
  • Engineer ($81,166 – $101,458):
    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Engineer III ($93,342 – $116,678):
    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least three years of progressive engineering experience in the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Senior Engineer ($107,342 – $134,178):
    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least six years of progressive engineering experience in the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Core Competencies & Essential Duties
  • Provide professional engineering support in area of assignment. Specific responsibilities include developing planning case studies and conducting engineering analysis, leading projects and/or studies for area of assignment with minimal guidance.
  • Complete various reports including economic, system analysis, technical, etc.
  • Perform engineering and technical work related to the planning of future facilities, developments, and/or programs in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Serve on various committees and attend meetings, public events, and speaking engagements.
  • Provide background information and documentation for management consideration on assigned projects and technical matters involving engineering theories, concepts, and principles.
