Airport Engineer In Training

Primary Function

Acquires basic knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area. Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment. Exercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work. Understands our quality program. Prepares drawings, visual aids, and specifications. Observes construction activities.

• Collects data and gathers information or documents
• Performs standard computations or analysis
• Prepares drawings and visual aids
• Observes construction activities and/or basic survey services and completes accompanying reports
• Assists on other tasks such as preparation of permit applications, material testing, CADD work, filing air space studies
• Performs moderate design tasks and prepares portions of project documents
• Edits specifications
• Performs research and investigations

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Engineering Intern certification (or have exam scheduled to be completed)
• Experience or knowledge of FAA or DOT Standards and Procedures is helpful
• Software experience should include AutoCAD and/or Microstation
• Background with AutoCAD Civil 3D surface grading is preferred
• Geotechnical and materials engineering experience is favorable
• Knowledge of coordinate systems and GIS mapping is beneficial
• Strong technical/qualitative writing ability
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
