As an Engineer in the Project Development Division, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to scope and develop projects that shape Nebraska's transportation system from concept to construction. Job duties include conducting engineering reviews, preparing technical reports, reviewing and analyzing pavement condition, developing project cost estimates, managing multiple projects, maintaining communication between NDOT divisions, updating project status, participating in meetings, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) within one year of employment. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a transportation related focus, experience in the design of highways, streets, culverts, and storm sewers, and knowledge in the preparation of highway construction plans, construction estimates, highway construction, highway inspection, and highway surveying.

Other requirements include a degree from an EAC/ABET or CEAB (Canada)-accredited engineering program, a valid driver's license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation, and regular and reliable attendance.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include general engineering practices and standards, mathematics and engineering problem solving, use of computers to communicate, record and analyze information, written and oral communications, organization and record keeping, maintaining a professional attitude, developing professional relationships, managing multiple tasks and information effectively and accurately with attention to detail, and occasionally working outdoors for project site visits.
