State 911 Technology Coordinator (Open)
The Nebraska Public Service Commission (NPSC) seeks detail-oriented, self-motivated, and conscientious individual to provide technology support to the Commission's State 911 Department. This position will work closely with Emergency Communication Centers and the telecommunications industry regarding technical applications for taking critical 911 calls.
Job Duties:
- Provide expert technical leadership and advisory services to the NPSC and emergency communication centers on the Nebraska 911 Service System.
- Monitor and maintain network performance across the state, proactively identifying and resolving technical issues to ensure continuous operation of the 911 Service System.
- Ensure statewide compliance with federal and state technical standards, regulations, and best practices, including routine audits and reporting.
- Manage and oversee statewide technical projects, including system upgrades, equipment deployments, and software implementations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Provide on-site technical consultation and support to emergency communication centers as required.
- Evaluate and improve backup, redundancy, and contingency plans to minimize system downtime during emergencies or equipment failures.
- Evaluate, support and make recommendations for improving the Cyber Security posture for the 911 Service System and the emergency communication centers.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to improve technical knowledge, network compliance and operational efficiency with the 911 Service System.
- Advise the State 911 Director and NPSC leadership on procurement strategies, vendor selection, and contract evaluation for technical solutions.
- Other technology duties as assigned.
Hiring Rate: $67,136.16 – $98,966; salary is negotiable commensurate with experience.
Schedule:
8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday; flexibility available

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Post high school coursework, training, or experience in the analysis of telecommunication processes and system requirements and the creation of applicable applications. Experience in emergency communications, telecommunications, network administration, or related fields, including:
- Management and oversight of complex networks and technology systems.
- Project management and coordination of technical initiatives.
- Compliance with federal and state regulations in emergency communications or telecommunications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science, or a closely related technical field.
