Job DescriptionThe Nebraska Racing & Gaming Commission is seeking a Gaming Auditor to support the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of Nebraska’s racing and gaming industries. This role combines financial review and gaming audit responsibilities, including analyzing reports, verifying data, and identifying inconsistencies that require follow‑up with operators. You’ll play a key part in ensuring compliance with state regulations while helping maintain fair and accountable operations across the industry.

- Evaluates financial eligibility of licensing applicants through tax return analysis and source‑of‑funds verification.
- Reconciles audited financials with internal records and performs risk assessments.
- Reviews casino reports for accuracy, anomalies and compliance issues.
- Investigates discrepancies and escalates issues as needed.
- Supports transparency and accuracy in all financial reporting activities.
- Analyzes revenue trends and operational data to identify risks.
- Embraces additional responsibilities as needed to support the Commission’s evolving needs.
- Minimum Qualifications
:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting (or equivalent with at least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing). - Legal Requirements
:
Positions are subject to Title 42, Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 1 – Minimum Standards for Government Employees Identified as Auditors. - Preferred Qualifications
: 2+ years of experience conducting financial audits or reviews. - Other
:
Regular and reliable onsite attendance at Lincoln office, valid driver’s license, ability to drive a state car or provide authorized transportation; occasional day‑trip travel to operator sites. NRGC employees are prohibited from gambling or placing a wager in any establishment licensed by the Commission.
- Solid foundation in accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting, including GAAP.
- Interest in the Nebraska gaming industry’s operational, regulatory, and financial frameworks.
- Keen analytical skills to identify financial inconsistencies and subtle irregularities.
- Ability to work respectfully with a diverse group of stakeholders, including Commission employees, gaming operators, and public officials.
- Clear communication, both oral and written, to summarize complex ideas for all stakeholders.
- Capability to prepare reports and review financial data for accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
