Job Description:

Serve Nebraska, a partner with the Department of Health and Human Services Operations Division, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team as the Fiscal/Grants Officer. This position oversees the entire life cycle of grant funding, ensuring financial compliance, budgetary accuracy, and timely reporting for federal, state, and private awards. This is an important position that works with all positions in the office for budget tracking, invoicing, and audit readiness.

Under administrative direction, reviews budgets, contracts, and grants for federally funded projects. Position is supervised by agency division director, performing related work as assigned.

Key responsibilities of the Fiscal/Grants Officer:

* Grant Compliance:
Manages pre and post grant award process, reconciles grant accounts, and ensures expenditures align with approved budgets and regulations, understanding of accounting principles.

* Budgeting:
Assist Executive Director in development of Administrative Budgets for grants received, conducts reconciling, prepares financial reports for management, reviews and communicates with sub awardees in review of grant budgets.

* Reporting and auditing:
Working with DHHS to prepare and submit financial reports, monitors grant spending and ensures audit readiness.

* Train and /or Instruct:
Sub awardees on budgeting as it pertains to federal rules and regulations.

* Work closely:
With the DHHS accounting, grants, and contracts teams, this is important to understand the processes in place that Serve Nebraska follows.

* Order:
Supplies and commodities, submit agency credit card monthly statements for the office.

* Manage:
Records management/retention.

Hire Rate: $27.005 per hour - Exempt - Hire Rate increases July 1, 2026, to $27.613

Dress Attire:
Business Casual

Location:

1225 L Street - Temporary and then relocating back to the State Capitol

Driving is required

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in grants management, business administration, public administration, accounting, budgeting, OR related fiscal field, and four years' experience in grant management, contract administration, accounting, budgeting, OR other fiscal related areas of work. Additional years of experience in the area listed may substitute for the required education, on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

* Three to five years' experience managing federal grants or accounting position.

* Interest in learning and becoming certified in grants management

Other:
Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of: grants and contracts processing and monitoring; accounting principles, practices, methods, and procedures; budgeting procedures; computer capabilities and applications.

Ability to: work under pressure; to meet deadlines.

Skill in: decision-making; effective communication.
