Job DescriptionServe Nebraska, a partner with the Department of Health and Human Services Operations Division, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team as a Fiscal/Grants Officer. This position oversees the entire life cycle of grant funding, ensuring financial compliance, budgetary accuracy, and timely reporting for federal, state, and private awards. The role works with all positions in the office for budget tracking, invoicing, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities- Grant Compliance:
Manages pre and post grant award processes, reconciles grant accounts, and ensures expenditures align with approved budgets and regulations. - Budgeting:
Assists the Executive Director in developing administrative budgets for grants received, conducts reconciliations, prepares financial reports for management, and reviews grant budgets with subawardees. - Reporting & Auditing:
Works with DHHS to prepare and submit financial reports, monitors grant spending, and ensures audit readiness. - Training & Instruction:
Trains subawardees on budgeting as it pertains to federal rules and regulations. - Collaboration:
Works closely with the DHHS accounting, grants, and contracts teams to understand processes followed by Serve Nebraska. - Supply Management:
Orders supplies and commodities, submits agency credit card monthly statements. - Records Management:
Manages records management and retention.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in grants management, business administration, public administration, accounting, budgeting, or related fiscal field.
- Four years of experience in grant management, contract administration, accounting, budgeting, or other fiscal related areas. Additional years of experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Three to five years of experience managing federal grants or in an accounting position.
- Interest in learning and becoming certified in grants management.
Other:
Valid driver’s license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Driving is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of grants and contracts processing and monitoring; accounting principles, practices, methods, and procedures; budgeting procedures; computer capabilities and applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Skills in decision-making and effective communication.
