Hiring Rate: $90,000 - $97,000 per year (negotiable based on experience)

Responsibilities- Evaluate and approve plans (construction documents), structural and energy performance calculations, specifications, and quality assurance manuals for manufactured homes, recreational vehicles, and modular housing units in accordance with relevant federal and state codes.
- Supervise and effectively manage staff and budget of the Housing and Recreational Vehicle Department.
- Deliver technical assistance in the areas of manufactured homes, modular housing, and recreational vehicle design to the public, manufacturers, local communities, and other State and Federal Agencies.
- Work with the Commissioners and Executive Director to develop and implement appropriate policies, programs, and procedures related to the Department.
- Collaborate with Commission staff and the Commissioners to meet the policy and legislative objectives of the Commission.
- Represent the Commission on State and national committees, deliver presentations, prepare papers and reports concerning Commission challenges and activities.
- Perform inspections at consumers' homes and manufacturing facilities (in‑state and out‑of‑state) as needed to ensure conformance to applicable laws.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture. Relevant certifications may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Strong management, supervisory, organizational, and customer/consumer relations skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered professional civil engineer or architect in the State of Nebraska.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be available for occasional statewide overnight travel.
- Knowledge of building codes, construction industry, engineering theories, design standards, specifications, computer operation basics, and mathematical concepts.
- Experience in building construction fields and quality assurance.
- Capacity to read, interpret, and evaluate engineering plans and specifications; organize, analyze, and evaluate information and draw conclusions; communicate clearly with manufacturers and government employees; learn new skills; deal tactfully with diverse constituencies; work collaboratively; handle multiple tasks; take initiative; prioritize; and work independently.
