GENERAL

SUMMARY:

Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.

PRINCIPAL

JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • * Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • * Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography of chest, extremities, skull and sinus, spine, ankle and foot, and abdomen. Practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
  • * Uses sterile technique as required.
  • * Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
  • * Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include, EMR, PACS and teleradiology.
  • * Utilizes department computer systems, files, EMR and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
  • * Properly cares for and images patients of all ages and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • * Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
  • * Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
  • * Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as assigned.
  • * Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems.
  • * Keeps work area properly supplied.
  • * Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Currently enrolled in an accredited school of radiologic technology required. Valid Temporary State Medical Radiographer license required.

    OTHER CREDENTIALS /

    CERTIFICATIONS:

    Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
