Lab Technician
Job Description
The Lab Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tasks including sample and reagent preparation, DNA extraction and isolation, and conducting quality analysis prior to genotyping. This role involves executing molecular biology tasks, generating data for platform-specific technologies, and utilizing liquid handling automation machines, multichannel pipettes, and electronic repeaters. Additionally, the technician will generate and analyze initial data from various laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation while maintaining accurate records in laboratory notebooks, sample archives, and LIMS entries.
The technician will also provide input on laboratory efficiency improvements, calibrate instruments, and perform troubleshooting as needed, all while adhering to SOPs and supporting ISO procedures with quality standards.
Responsibilities
+ Perform sample and reagent preparation.
+ Conduct DNA extraction and isolation.
+ Execute quality analysis prior to genotyping.
+ Carry out molecular biology tasks.
+ Generate data for platform-specific technologies.
+ Utilize liquid handling automation machines, multichannel pipettes, and electronic repeaters.
+ Generate and analyze initial data from various laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation.
+ Maintain accurate records in laboratory notebooks, sample archives, and LIMS entries.
+ Provide input on improvements to maximize laboratory efficiency.
+ Calibrate instruments and perform troubleshooting if needed.
+ Follow SOPs and support ISO procedures with quality standards.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in laboratory techniques and molecular biology.
+ Experience in DNA extraction and sample processing.
+ Knowledge in biology, genotyping, and laboratory techniques.
+ Familiarity with SOPs and laboratory quality standards.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, genetics, biology, or related sciences is required.
+ Laboratory experience is preferred, particularly in molecular biology testing.
+ Candidates with 1+ years of lab experience may be considered without a Bachelor's degree.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
The work environment is a very clean and modern laboratory equipped with new, custom-built lab equipment. The lab operates in a fast-paced setting where employees can enjoy music and use headphones while working. Flexibility in tasks is encouraged, allowing employees to work on different projects daily. The lab offers a supportive team environment with opportunities for collaboration. Shifts include Monday-Friday day and night shifts (5 days, 8 hours per day) and Sunday-Wednesday day and night shifts (4 days, 10 hours per day).
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
