Assistant/Associate Professor - Audiology

The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) is seeking applications for a tenure-leading Assistant or Associate Professor in Audiology. This 9-month (academic year) appointment will contribute to the department's teaching and research missions, with an emphasis on developing a nationally and internationally recognized research program in audiology. This position will be located in Lincoln, Nebraska, with a projected start date of August 16, 2027.

The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at UNL is housed in a state-of-the-art facility in a newly expanded and renovated building. You will teach alongside our expert faculty in our spiral curriculum, where we integrate the expertise of our clinical and research faculty to create an environment where students are coached to make connections between research and practice.

Our proximity to and collaborations with Boys Town National Research Hospital, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, UNL's Center for Brain, Biology, and Behavior (CB3), and the University of Nebraska Medical Center may provide opportunities for you to build your program of research.

We are excited to welcome a new colleague at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in audiology to join our collaborative and supportive faculty. We are especially interested in candidates whose work focuses on hearing and balance sciences, amplification and hearing aids, vestibular assessment and management, cognition and aging, or pediatric audiology. At the same time, we encourage applicants from a wide range of research areas who share our commitment to advancing knowledge and improving the lives of individuals with hearing and balance needs.

Responsibilities include building a collaborative research program that contributes to the advancement of audiology and has the potential to attract external support; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of expertise; mentoring and guiding student research; and engaging in professional service within the department, college, university, and broader community.

Minimum required qualifications include an earned research doctorate (Ph.D.) in Audiology, Hearing Science, Speech Science, Neuroscience, or a closely related field. Demonstrated potential for excellence in research publications, grant activity, or research trajectory. Evidence of effective teaching or training at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Preferred qualifications include a strong record or promise of obtaining external funding. Experience in both basic and applied audiology research. Clinical audiology experience and the ability to integrate clinical practice with teaching and research. Expertise in one or more of the interest areas: hearing and balance sciences, amplification and hearing aids, vestibular assessment and management, cognition and aging, or pediatric audiology.

Existing collaborations with clinical or medical research centers. Skills or experience in mentoring graduate students.

Work location is Lincoln, NE. Pre-placement driving record review and criminal history background check are required.
