Hospitality Services Attendant, Assistant, Associate, Sr. Associate (10:00pm-6:30am, Sun-Thurs)
At the University of Nebraska where every person and every interaction matters, the Hospitality Service team member plays a meaningful role in maintaining safe, healthy, and welcoming environments for students, staff, faculty and/or guests in a variety of settings. This position works within the Nebraska Union and Gaughan Multicultural Center and is responsible for performing routine cleaning and general upkeep of areas such as offices, lounges, conference rooms, restrooms, and event spaces to provide patrons with a clean, safe and well‑maintained environment.
Inthis role you will:
- Provide routine custodial care and general upkeep within Nebraska Union spaces.
- Clean and maintain flooring, including hard floor surfaces and carpet.
- Assist with snow and ice removal for the areas surrounding the Nebraska Union.
- Assist with event set up or take down of event spaces.
- Be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more while moving furniture or setting up tables and chairs for special events.
Positions may be hired at a higher level depending on candidate qualifications. Depending on the level assigned, the position may train and oversee the work of others and:
- Work on call, including Blood Borne Pathogens cleanup and response to other emergency calls during shift.
- Use all non-riding and non-autonomous equipment.
- Order supplies.
When hired as a Hospitality Services Attendant
, the position will receive continuous supervision and specific guidelines in the process of training and development. When hired as a Hospitality Services Assistant
, Hospitality Services Associate or Hospitality Services Sr. Associate the position will routinely perform the skills associated with that level. Performance will be continuously assessed to determine ability to perform these skills at an acceptable level.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions necessary.
- Must have the ability to understand cleaning chemicals and their application and dilution ratios.
- Ability to gain knowledge and skill to operate large cleaning equipment necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move objects weighing 50 pounds and occasionally more while moving furniture or setting up tables and chairs for special events.
