Human Resources Coordinator - FT

Under the general direction and supervision of the Senior Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator performs a variety of human resources functions. The role may include serving as the point of contact for the hiring process, developing recruitment strategies, and assisting with employee development and performance improvement/coaching opportunities. This position may also be assigned special projects and research assignments to support and improve College practices and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements.

Functions
  • Knowledge of Human Resources procedures and personnel transaction processing techniques.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in a variety of procedural situations.
  • Serve in a customer‑facing, consultative role and provide HR support in a timely and accurate manner, complying with all applicable College, State, and Federal regulations and policies.
  • Work closely with employees and key stakeholders to provide high level customer service and professionalism.
  • Assist in the review of College policies and procedures, divisional/operational handbooks, and management plans.
  • Work with SDHR & division leadership to assist with staffing needs, update position descriptions, and identify recruitment targets.
  • Coordinate the application, advertising, interview, and offer processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Develop initial application questions that obtain complete candidate qualification information and establish a ranking system within People Admin.
  • Conduct detailed position classification and compensation analysis/studies, position audits, and analysis; develop and revise job descriptions and classes.
  • Complete initial information review and analysis for recommended candidates, detailing education, experience, interview outcomes, references, background checks, and employment verifications.
  • Develop recommended salary offers and review with AVPHR or SDHR prior to offers of employment.
  • Serve as a resource and central point of contact for employees, interview teams, and applicants concerning hiring, postings, and the application processes.
  • Serve as HR liaison for interview teams as needed.
  • Utilize technology to provide professional services.
  • Conduct all work with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in support of HR division and College Administration initiatives.
Professional Development
  • Identify and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities, various HR‑related trainings, and performance improvement strategies.
  • Manage college‑wide promotional efforts such as newsletters and delivery of HR training topics; coordinate external trainers.
  • Develop reports, communication, and training for supervisors; assist in the development of performance improvement plans and professional development goals.
  • Serve on and coordinate various teams and committees as directed.
  • Seek to expand HR and training expertise by attending conferences, workshops, and seminars.
  • Ensure compliance with budget and purchasing procedures.
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information in a secure and trustworthy manner.
Tuition Reimbursement/Waiver
  • Monitor, track, and process tuition reimbursement and waiver requests.
  • Develop reports and coordinate with Accounts Payable and Administrative Services for compliance with the tuition reimbursement budget.
Performance Management
  • Coordinate and manage appraisal notifications to supervisors for upcoming and overdue employee evaluations.
  • Process probationary completion memos for faculty who have completed their probationary period.
  • Maintain appraisal records by documenting, filing, and retaining completed performance evaluations.
Supervisory Tasks
  • Oversee and provide general direction for recruitment and hiring processes; monitor onboarding of new employees.
  • Ensure recruitment processes are effective in hiring a competitive, qualified, and diverse workforce.
