Description Of Work
The Director, Digital Experience Group leads the overall direction and strategy of the university’s owned digital media, including:
- Coordination with University Communications and Marketing (UComm) and other marketing staff to support the overall communication priorities of the university;
- Development of accessible content-authoring and publishing applications to support all university units;
- Oversight of design of the university’s brand in digital environments;
- Facilitation of communication, collaboration and governance within the university web community.
As leader of the Digital Experience Group ( DXG ), this position cultivates and grows the central digital communications team and the overall web community at UNL, defines the priorities and strategies for the institution’s ‘digital campus’ , and helps align the efforts of the content creators and strategists, as well as frontend and backend developers across the University.

MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, computer science, business or related field plus five years experience building user-centered websites required; additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Management experience organizing and facilitating efforts of teams with varying skill sets
- Knowledge of current technologies used in web and new media communication, including hosting platforms, file types, and coding and markup languages such as HTML, CSS
- Knowledge of issues affecting higher ed digital environments, including accessibility, analytics and usability, audience research methods and reporting, and quality considerations such as optimization, stability and performance.
- Knowledge of Content Management Systems (Drupal preferred)
- Knowledge of JavaScript, PHP and MySQL.
- Experience managing larger teams (ex; 7 employees)
- Previous experience managing a developer team.
- Previous experience in digital governance.
- Broad knowledge of communications and marketing in a higher ed environment.
Posted Salary $90,000/yr. minimum
