Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Step into a vital role supporting student access and inclusion as a contract Sign Language Interpreter in Lincoln, NE. This position, based at an elementary school, focuses on providing communication access for young learners who are deaf or hard of hearing within a dynamic educational setting. The assignment runs from August 12, 2026, to May 20, 2027, and is exclusively onsite.

Flexible scheduling is available, with both full-day (7:45am-3:15pm) and afternoon-only (11:00am-3:15pm) shifts to accommodate your availability.

What were seeking:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience as a sign language interpreter in school settings preferred
• Will consider candidates with a Provisional license if EIPA score is under 4.0
• Ability to interpret effectively in an elementary classroom environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices

Role responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff through sign language
• Adapt interpreting strategies to meet the developmental needs of elementary students
• Support student participation in both academic and social classroom activities
