Job Description

Nebraska Supreme Court Justice John Freudenberg is seeking a judicial clerk to start in the fall of 2027 for a one‑year appointment. The clerk will assist the justice with case‑specific duties and legal research directly within the Supreme Court.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare bench briefs on upcoming cases.
  • Review the record and research the law germane to the appeals under submission.
  • Prepare legal memoranda and synthesize factual analysis.
  • Complete thorough legal research.
  • Assist the justice with complex legal issues and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Graduated in the top 20% of the law school class.
  • Impressive knowledge of legal research principles, methods, materials, and practices.
  • Ability to analyze, appraise, and organize facts, evidence, and precedents in difficult and complex cases.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and Microsoft Office.
