University of Nebraska-Lincoln Facilities Assistant (3:00pm‑11:30pm, Tues‑Sat) Job Description Job Summary
The Facilities Assistant serves as an integral part of the Nebraska Unions team by preparing meeting rooms and event spaces in the Willa Cather Dining Center, Nebraska Union, and the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center (JGMC) to meet customer needs and requests for their event.
In this role you will be:
- Setting up chairs, tables, podiums, and staging.
- Moving operable partition walls.
- Setting up Audio/Visual (A/V) equipment including portable computer presentation carts (SMART carts), overhead projectors, portable sound systems, conference call telephone systems, and webinar systems.
In addition, the Facilities Assistant will provide building upkeep by changing light bulbs in a variety of lighting fixtures, making minor repairs on custodial equipment, reporting maintenance repairs and problems to the Nebraska Unions Maintenance Manager, opening the Nebraska Union, Willa Cather Dining Center or JGMC on a daily basis and for special events/early openings as scheduled, performing snow removal at the entrances of the Nebraska Union and JGMC, providing custodial services and maintaining the cleanliness of the meeting rooms and certain public areas for the customers of Nebraska Union, Willa Cather Dining Center, and JGMC.
This position will operate powered custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, floor polishers/buffers, shampooers, etc.

- Computer experience.
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience with setup of audio/visual equipment, projectors, tele‑conference phones.
- Experience in custodial skills to include proper use of chemicals, cleaning techniques, and the ability to operate custodial equipment.
