Position: Packaging Technical Operator (2nd shift)

Packaging Technical Operator

The Packaging Technical Operator serves as primary operator and owner of an assigned work center responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting packaging equipment to meet safety, quality, production, and continuous improvement targets. The role oversees setup, adjustments, troubleshooting, and operation of packaging equipment to routinely achieve production and quality standards while following cGMPs, SOPs, and standard work documentation. The operator maintains detailed documentation and assists in training others.

Responsibilities
  • Operate & Monitor Equipment: Safely operate packaging equipment across assigned work centers in accordance with cGMP guidelines, standard work, and operating procedures. Weigh, process, and inspect materials and finished product to ensure quality standards are consistently met. Monitor critical process parameters and product attributes throughout production.
  • Setup, Changeover & Maintenance: Perform equipment setup, cleaning, changeovers, and troubleshooting within defined timelines. Execute basic adjustments, minor repairs, and part replacements during production runs. Support equipment rebuilds and modifications while escalating complex issues to technical teams. Coordinate and assist with preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Continuous Improvement & Equipment Care: Participate in autonomous maintenance programs to sustain optimal equipment performance. Identify and proactively resolve equipment, material, or process issues that may impact safety, quality, or efficiency. Contribute to procedure development, updates, and documentation improvements.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all activities follow cGMP requirements and internal standards. Accurately complete and maintain equipment logs, cleaning records, calibration documentation, and production tracking tools. Monitor team documentation for accuracy and provide coaching to support compliance.
  • Materials & Inventory Management: Maintain proper levels of materials and supplies to support production continuity. Safely operate material handling and transport equipment. Identify opportunities to reduce waste and optimize use of consumables.
  • Teamwork & Development: Escalate issues appropriately to leadership for timely resolution. Maintain required training compliance through the Learning Management System. Actively develop skills to independently operate across three distinct work centers in alignment with the Operator Career Path.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in production, mechanical troubleshooting, or a related field required.
  • Prior manufacturing or packaging experience, including equipment setup and changeovers, or demonstrated experience troubleshooting multiple mechanical systems.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 55 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including bump cap, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and N95 or PAPR (provided).
  • Basic computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with cGMP documentation.
  • Experience with a lean organization or exposure to lean concepts, tools, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Proficient, and Informance.
Location

Lincoln, Nebraska. This position is not remote.

Shift

2nd Shift: 2:30p.m.–11:00p.m. Monday through Friday.
