Position Summary

The Monoclonal Antibody (mAb) Manufacturing Technician will operate in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing laboratory, executing upstream and/or downstream bioprocess operations that support large-scale mAb production.

  • Upstream:
    Scale-up of mammalian cell culture, including inoculation, expansion, bioreactor setup/monitoring (pH, DO, temperature), and aseptic technique in cleanroom environments.
  • Downstream:
    Purification operations, including clarification/centrifugation, chromatography (setup, operation, in-process monitoring), and membrane-based steps such as ultrafiltration and nanofiltration.

This role is accountable for accurate, timely, and complete process documentation (batch records, logbooks, electronic entries) to ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Colleagues are expected to understand and strictly follow site safety policies/SOPs related to biological and chemical handling, and equipment operation to protect personnel and maintain product quality and compliance.

Hours:

1st Shift, Monday – Friday 7:15a.m. – 3:45p.m. Rotating weekends required. Overtime and holidays may be required.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory processes using aseptic technique in cleanroom environments.
  • Inoculate, expand, and monitor mammalian cell cultures in flasks and single-use bioreactors. Set, control, and monitor key parameters (pH, DO, agitation, temperature).
  • Execute downstream purification operations, including clarification/centrifugation, chromatography, ultrafiltration, and nanofiltration. Perform in process sampling and record results.
  • Assemble, prepare, and stage lab/production equipment. Operate bioreactors, isolator glove boxes, CIP/SIP, and other automated systems.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and preventative maintenance. Identify and escalate issues and assist with basic troubleshooting.
  • Complete accurate, timely batch record, logbook, and electronic entries; follow cGMP and data-integrity standards (ALCOA+).
  • Learn, follow, and maintain compliance with SOPs, safety policies, and PPE requirements.
  • Demonstrate consistent reliability in attendance, punctuality, and meeting deadlines; proactively identify risks and suggest process improvements.
  • Dispense and complete production orders in SAP inventory system; support inventory accuracy and material traceability.
  • Support production execution, contribute to deviation investigations, change controls, and corrective/preventative actions as required.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate with Manufacturing, QA/QC, Engineering, GMT, and VMRD to meet production goals and timelines.

Education and Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • BS in biological sciences preferred. Preference given to applicants with relevant experience in biological production and/or aseptic manufacturing.

Physical Position Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Work in cleanroom/production areas with temperature variation, odors, noise, live steam, and exposure to caustic/hazardous chemicals.
