The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for fostering community engagement and supporting organizational growth by cultivating meaningful volunteer relationships and promoting a positive volunteer experience across multiple locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work onsite at all three locations in person (Lincoln shelter, Maryville office, thrift store).
  • Weekly and monthly newsletters to volunteers.
  • 24-hour response time to all volunteer inquiries and applications.
  • Pursuing new volunteers through different platforms.
  • Work off-site community outreach events to find new volunteers.
  • Oversee and manage the foster volunteer program alongside the Animal Care Team.
  • Coordinate all volunteer appreciation events and programs across multiple departments and programs.
  • Requires a background check.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/

Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.

Mathematical Ability: Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10’s and 100’s. Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer

Skills:

Ability to work with multiple different software platforms, including but not limited to Google Docs, Excel, Sharepoint, Dropbox, shelter management software platforms, and event planning platforms.

Certificates and Licenses: A certificate relating to animal welfare or volunteer coordinating is preferred, but not required, to apply for this position.
