Position: Director of Youth Development Programs

Responsible To: Chief Operating Officer

Location: YWCA Lincoln, 5631 S. 48th Street, Suite 410, Lincoln, NE 68516

Hours: Full-time, exempt. Occasional evenings or weekend dates.

Summary of Position

The Director of Youth Development Programs is responsible for the direct supervision of programs’ staff and volunteers and will provide administrative coordination for all programs including program meetings, assisting in the development of training materials, keeping programmatic records and reporting materials, assisting with production of reports and success stories for grant requirements. Develops and monitors upcoming proposal and report deadlines and prepare renewal applications and stewardship reports as required.

This hands‑on role is designed to coordinate education and social service programs and activities for the YWCA‑Lincoln. The Director of Youth Development Programs will coordinate multiple events and projects for the following programs:
SMART‑Girls Club
, Take A Break
, Girls Circles
, CATCH and future developing programs
.

This position must also maintain positive community relations to increase the number of referrals and assist to program services and their development. Must also act as point‑of‑contact between the local sites and the community by working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Community & Family Engagement.

The Director of Youth Development Programs must demonstrate flexibility, creativity, possess strong communication oral and verbally, possess organization and time management skills, be equally adept as a team member and independent worker, and efficiently provide assistance and support for any functions related to YWCA‑Lincoln. Must also be able to effectively collaborate with internal staff and external organizations, manage priorities in a fast‑pace working environment, and understand the nature and challenges of a non‑profit organization.

Strategic

Planning, Organizational Development and Board Support
  • Assist the Chief Operating Officer with the development and implementation of any program strategic planning.
  • Assist the Chief Operating Officer with the compliance of policies and procedures as outlined by the Board of Directors for all programs and services.
  • Attend Board meetings, committee meetings and community meetings as needed or at the request of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Research and identify best practices for program models and trends in after‑school programs and services.
  • Demonstrate cultural proficiency and sound knowledge of curriculum development.
Financial and Grant Management
  • Ensure all invoices and other program documentation are submitted correctly and in a timely manner in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer and Finance Manager.
  • Ensure program and activity expenses are operating within the budget as outlined by the grant requirements and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Assist the Chief Operating Officer with grant preparation and reports required by grantors (i.e. research, written reports, writing success stories, reporting financial and program trends).
  • Oversee all data entry required for grant maintenance and reporting (i.e. database for students enrolled in all sites, attendance, participation in program and activities, maintenance of daily sign‑in/out sheets).
  • Responsible for reviewing time cards and sheets prepared by program staff before submitting them to payroll.
Program Development and Maintenance
  • Develop a comprehensive annual plan for programs and services under the direct supervision of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Responsible for the daily operation of the program and oversight of staff and volunteers.
  • Review and evaluate the overall program routinely and make appropriate changes when advisable.
  • Maintain, in conjunction with the LPS administrators, an accurate and up‑to‑date enrollment and waiting list.
  • Ensure that all programs maintain at least minimal enrollment to satisfy grant requirements.
  • Maintain, in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Community & Family Engagement, a calendar of activities for programs.
