DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for developing and managing grant applications and gift proposals for individuals, private foundations, corporations, and city, state and federal agencies in collaboration with Foundation staff. Maintains a successful structure and plan for moving grant applications through to completion and ensuring internal and external communications create strong philanthropic interest in Madonna from current and potential sources of grant funding. In coordination with Foundation gift officers, locate grant sources, determine best match with Madonna needs and determine dollar amounts to be requested.
Responsible for personal communications with grant funding sources and providing all required materials for grant applications. Maintains relationships with Hospital management and staff in determining needs and obtaining requisite information for grant applications.
Responsible for writing compelling donor communications, including case statements, proposals, grant requests, appeals, magazine articles, email and e-newsletter communications, event scripts and other writing as assigned. Acts as liaison between the Foundation and Marketing teams to provide high-quality, strategic communications across multiple channels as well as event support. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for the Foundation and Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the Foundation and facility.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Conducts grant prospect research using internal records, databases, publications and other research resources.
- Identify and prioritize grant opportunities aligned with organizational needs and funding potential.
- Collaborate with Hospital staff to assess funding needs and develop case statements and proposal materials.
- Prepare and submit grant applications, proposals, cover letters, and supporting materials and maintain accurate, organized and up-to-date records, schedules and tracking systems.
- In coordination with Director of Development and Vice President of Development, cultivate and maintain relationships with grant funders through phone, email, written correspondence and in-person meetings at all stages of the life cycle of the grant.
- Complete all required grant reporting and provide fund utilization and outcome reports to funders.
- Provide leadership and technical support for grant development, fundraising initiatives, and donor recognition events.
- In coordination with Vice President of Development and Director of Development, create timelines and content plans and produce Foundation and donor communications across multiple channels, including print, direct mail, email, social media, web and event scripts and speeches as assigned.
- Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of grant applications and donor communications as requested.
- Works with Hospital and Foundation staff on the accumulation and dissemination of program information and on prioritizing grant and proposal activity.
- Supervises volunteers and interns, when assigned, in the completion of grant and other donor prospect research activities.
- Establishes strong team-oriented relationships and works cooperatively with all Foundation and Hospital staff involved in supporting fundraising initiatives and donor communications.
- Perceives customer relations as a primary focus and continually strives to satisfy the needs of every customer in all areas of the workforce and client base.
- Takes instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system.
- Operates computer to conduct Internet and Raiser’s Edge research and compile prospect information, and to perform writing functions on Word and to perform other job functions through available computer programs.
- Maintains and ensures a safe environment for the department. Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
- Provides and operates motor vehicle and travels as necessary in order to contact and serve clients.
- Assists with ensuring cleanliness of equipment and environment.
sedentary work - occasionally lifting and/or carrying 10 pounds. indoor work with driving and operating a motor vehicle to agencies for information, to grant source donor prospects, and to sources of case statement stories and information. Frequently exposed to outside conditions, elements and/or hazards. Requires sufficient sight to see and read reports and computer screen. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking to communicate by phone or in person.
Mobility required to travel to scheduled events or meetings as needed.
