Position Summary

Our mission is to alleviate hunger in Southeast Nebraska. The Individual Giving Director has a heart for helping neighbors and is keenly focused on proactively and fearlessly establishing, building and nurturing relationships with individual donors throughout our 16 counties.

Essential Job Functions
  • Be a Food Bank of Lincoln ambassador able to speak confidently to our mission, culture and core values.
  • Understand that the two keys to raising money for a nonprofit are showing heartfelt gratitude at every opportunity and providing clear and consistent communication with donors. Good stewardship is vital.
  • Develop and manage individual donor relationships to secure funding to achieve annual revenue targets in conjunction with the Food Bank of Lincoln’s annual goals.
  • Strengthen those relationships based on the objectives outlined in the Food Bank of Lincoln’s strategic framework.
  • Serve as a resource and collaborative partner to all Food Bank of Lincoln departments to ensure messaging and revenue success and program sustainability.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of the Food Bank’s funding priorities and activities, ensuring self‑comfort and confidence in speaking to these priorities across the Food Bank’s service area with community groups, donors and partners.
  • Ensure relationships are identified, tracked, and updated in available Food Bank data platforms, including Bloomerang and other systems as needed.
  • Supervise donor acknowledgement process, including donor relations coordinator.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications or other Business concentration from a four‑year university. Demonstrated experience will also be considered.
  • Experience:

    Fundraising experience is not required, but strong writing and communications skills are a must.
  • Motivated by service, humility and compassion for helping people.
  • Tech‑savvy with willingness to learn all aspects of our Bloomerang CRM and donation process.
  • Passion for alleviating hunger, addressing food insecurity and the root causes of poverty and injustice.
  • Willing to jump in and help other departments and colleagues at a moment’s notice, whether it’s helping out at the front desk, at a food distribution or at another Food Bank event.
  • General Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).
  • Communication and organizational skills to work cross‑functionally and collaboratively across departments and teams.
  • Valid Nebraska driver’s license and must be insurable.

  • Exhibited interest in professional development to advance skills in the areas of fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success working in relationship‑building and direct or indirect nonprofit experience.
  • Demonstrated success as a supervisor.
