About the roleThe EHS Environmental Specialist ensures site compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and Haleon internal environmental regulations. The role focuses on proactively identifying and mitigating environmental risks, protecting employees, the environment and the company.
Responsibilities- Ensure site compliance with all federal, state, local, and company environmental regulations across air, water, soil, waste, and sustainability.
- Develop and implement programs to identify, assess, and control environmental risks and exposures.
- Manage environmental compliance processes, including regulatory reporting, compliance calendars, and hazardous waste handling and disposal.
- Partner with regulatory agencies and lead site inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
- Conduct and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
- Establish and maintain EHS policies, procedures, KPIs, and training programs aligned with company strategy.
- Monitor EHS performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support change management by reviewing projects and new processes for EHS risks and ensuring safe implementation.
- Collaborate with global teams to share best practices and strengthen overall EHS performance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences, and/or Occupational Safety (or other related specialization).
- Experience in managing EHS risks in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceutical or related high-hazard sector.
- At least 4 years’ experience in the Environmental Field.
- Knowledge in the use of Environmental tracking databases.
- Experience establishing programs to manage the site’s different EHS risks and impacts, coordinated within an overall EHS management system.
- Experience reviewing change proposals (including capital projects and new product).
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Registered Environmental Manager (REM).
- Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements and regulations.
- Good relationship building and networking to engage effectively with site personnel, senior management, EHS and regional leads.
