The University of Nebraska‑Lincoln’s Klosterman Feedlot Innovation Center is located at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center (ENREEC) in Ithaca, Nebraska. The $7.2 million facility supports world‑class research projects and teaching opportunities in a commercial‑scale, state‑of‑the‑art feedlot.
Responsibilities- Supervise daily tasks of feedlot research technicians and student workers.
- Assist with daily management of pasture or grazing and feedlot livestock working with research technicians and student workers.
- Meet with supervisors to plan research activities including tasks of research technicians and student workers.
- Assist in record keeping requirements and trial protocols are accomplished and followed for accuracy.
- Assist graduate students with data collection.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BQA and IACUC certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field plus one year of livestock operations experience; OR
- Associate degree in animal science or related field plus three (3) years of livestock operations experience; OR
- High school diploma or equivalency plus five (5) years of livestock operations experience. Equivalent education/experience considered.
- Livestock feeding and health experience.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility criteria.
- Supervisory experience.
- Research experience and knowledge.
- Ability to use Excel or similar program for maintaining spreadsheets, generating reports, and basic data analysis.
