PositionCook/Chef at Great Western Dining Service, located at our Southeast Community College – Lincoln location.
Responsibilities- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to create new menu items and improve existing recipes
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping, peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
- Prepare, portion, and cook food items for various meal periods or special events
- Follow basic recipes and production information
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Follow all company HACCP and safety policies
- Proven experience as a cook
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Very good communication skills
Physical requirements of the job: continuous standing/walking and other mobility for up to 8 hours a day; ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull, and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds.
